HSK (1-6) Workbooks (Level 4/5)
My notes
The reading sections are dense with new vocabulary, and the fact that translations aren't always given forces you to work harder — which, annoyingly, makes the words stick. I'd write down unknown words and anchor each one to the sentence I found it in, which made review much faster later. Don't just scroll through the texts; that's how you waste the best part of the resource.
The workbook reading sections are denser than the coursebooks, and that density is the point. I made a rule: every word I couldn't define without hesitation got written down and added to my flashcard deck that evening. Forcing yourself to work without a translation provided — which the workbook often does — builds exactly the mental muscle you need for the reading section of the real test, where you cannot stop and look things up. Pair it with the coursebook and do not skip the exercises.
