The algorithm personalises quickly, and if you stay disciplined about only consuming content made by native speakers you'll pick up at least a few phrases daily without it feeling like study. The trap is drifting into English-language content — once that happens the algorithm feeds you more of it and the value drops to zero. Treat it as a tool, not entertainment, and it's genuinely one of the best passive listening resources available.
The algorithm's personalisation is its greatest strength as a study tool. Within a few days of only engaging with native Chinese content, my feed was entirely in Mandarin and I was picking up phrases I'd never have encountered in a textbook. The discipline required is real: the moment I accidentally engaged with English content, it took days to recalibrate. I treated it as a rule — Chinese content only, not as a break from studying, but as a different mode of it. If you approach it that way, it becomes one of the most efficient passive listening resources available.
